Waikoloa-Village
lies on the sunny, dry, west side of The Big Island within the popular Kohala Coast Region. Waikoloa Village is nestled between the Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualalai volcanoes, and on a clear day, one can see all the way to the island of Maui. The South Kohala Coast is the site of many large resorts on the island, and also a prime location for many challenging golf courses, corporate condominiums and vacation rentals. Waikoloa Village and Waimea are two of the major communities located in this region that offer shopping, restaurants and gorgeous white sand beaches. There are tons of activities in the area. Just a few include swimming, surfing, snorkeling and diving, boating, water-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, hiking, biking and golf. Whale watching excursions are available near Waikoloa Village, and you can also swim with the dolphins. Waikoloa Village is also the site of several world-class resorts and five star restaurants. A short drive takes you to the artsy village of Waimea, coffee plantations, Parker Ranch, the Waipio Valley and the historic area of Kailua-Kona. Waikoloa Village is everything Hawaiian and is just 24 miles north of the Kona International Airport.

Waikoloa Village Weather & Climate
The north/northwestern tip of The Big Island is lush and green year round. Due to its central location on the island, it is also somewhat in the middle where precipitation is concerned - not quite as dry as the western "leeward" side, but not as wet as the eastern "windward" side. Showers occur year round in this area, but most often at night or in the late afternoon. The temperature is warm throughout the year, only slightly warmer in the summer months, and cooler during the overnight hours. Other important features of the climate on The Big Island include moderate humidity and persistent northeasterly trade winds. In winter, the trade winds may be interrupted for days or weeks by the invasion of cyclones and this brings more rainstorms and southerly and westerly winds to the island.
