Kilauea
is located on the spectacular north coast of the island of Kauai. This pretty little town sits right alongside the Pacific Ocean near Kilauea Point and the Kilauea Lighthouse, which is the northernmost point on the islands. It is known as the "Guava Capital of the World," and is home to the Guava Kai Plantation. Take a tour and see how guava is grown and processed and how it's used. Free samples of this delicate yellow-pink fruit are given to visitors, and there is a café and gift shop on site. In Kilauea, you are just minutes from several beautiful white sand beaches and swimming, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, beachcombing and surfing. Other nearby attractions includes the National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, Honopu Valley, and Hanalei Bay. A short drive from Kilauea takes you to Princeville, the largest town on the island, and the quaint, artsy town of Hanalei. In Kilauea, you can be as active as you want to be, or lay back and luxuriate on a warm sunny beach as you listen to the waves and enjoy the tropical tradewinds. Kilauea offers seclusion and privacy among the tropical splendor of Kauai's north shore.

Kauai is very diverse, with huge areas of tropical forest, deserted coast and green mountains. The northern part of the island is the rainiest, which helps create the lush, tropical, wild terrain and cascading waterfalls this island is known for. A typical weather forecast for Kauai is "morning rains, followed by sunny skies." As with many parts of Hawaii, Kauai's climate varies according to location. Mount Waialeale, near the center of the island, is known as the wettest spot on earth. The driest area on the island is the southwestern part. Kauai has the gentle temperatures typical of Hawaii year-round, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 60s. Farther north and west than the other Hawaiian Islands, Kauai enjoys northerly trade winds year round. Severe storms, such as hurricanes, are rare on Kauai, but the possibility does exist.
