Anahola
is nestled beneath the Anahola Mountains on the northeastern coast, or "Coconut Coast," of the island of Kauai. This small town has retained the feeling of an old Hawaiian village and has a beautiful crescent shaped bay with a long, white sand beach to enjoy. Along the road to the town of Anahola, you will find many roadside stands selling fresh flowers, local foods and shaved ice. The beach is very nice for swimming, boogie boarding, fishing or just relaxing. There is a coral and reef protected cove at Anahola Beach with crystal clear water perfect for snorkeling. Many secluded beaches can be found in the area, so you need never worry about crowds. For non-beach activities, you can hike or bike along tree-canopied country roads, or go horseback riding, play golf, or go sightseeing. Waterfall, cliff and canyon excursions are available in the Anahola area, as well as Hula dancing lessons, massage or yoga and meditation. Explore the countryside and visit organic farms where you can eat the fruit right off the trees, or visit the Island Enchantment Retreat, which rests in a lush tropical setting among monkeypod trees as the towering Makalena mountain peaks rise behind it. Kauai's climate is tropical, and it consists of many distinct microclimates, including sunny dry areas, lush river valleys, temperate foothills and high mountain rain forests. For half of the year, temperatures on Kauai range in the 70s, with winter nighttime lows in the 60s. Summers on Kauai bring daytime temperatures in the mid-80s and nighttime lows in the 70s. Even in the middle of Kauai's summer, the nearly constant gentle trade
winds create a cool balmy climate instead of the oppressive heat common to other tropical destinations. The northern part of the island is the rainiest and the southwestern part is the driest, with variations in between. However, even in the rainiest regions, a typical forecast is "morning rains, followed by sunny skies the rest of the day."
