Hanalei
is located along the banks of the Hanalei River on the scenic north central coast of Kauai. It is situated between the towns of Haena and Princeville, near Hanalei Bay. The village of Hanalei has a charming collection of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants, and is home to the Ching Young Village, which is an open-air shopping center that started as a general store in 1906. This is the center of the village and you'll find everything from groceries and film to hand made items by local residents. Hanalei Bay is a beautiful crescent shaped beach that is carved into the base of a steep cliff on one side and it narrows into a rocky point on the other side. You will find swimming, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, surfing and other outdoors activities in the area. The western side of Hanalei Bay is warm and relatively calm year round, even when most other spots on the north coast are too rough for swimming in the wintertime. And, the golf courses of Princeville are just five minutes away. Other points of interests near Hanalei include Anini Beach, Lumahai Beach, and Hanalei Beach Park.

The North Coast of Kauai with its huge areas of tropical forest, picturesque coastline, green mountains and cascading waterfalls is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Plenty of rainfall helps keep it this way, although on Kauai, the forecast is usually rain at night or early morning, followed by warm, sunny days. Kauai's climate varies according to location, with the northern part of the island being the rainiest. Mount Waialeale is known as the wettest spot on earth, with approximately 486 inches of rain per year. By comparison, the southwestern part of the island is dry. Kauai has the warm temperatures typical of Hawaii year-round, with no more than a 7 or 8 degree difference between summer and winter, and the northwesterly trade winds keep the warm temperatures from becoming too oppressive.
