West-Molokai is old Hawaii, a step back in time to an island where no buildings are taller than the palm trees that grow there and the locals are warm and friendly. West Molokai has breathtaking scenery and nearly deserted beaches. Many times you may have an entire beach to yourself! Papohaku Beach on West Molokai is the longest white sand beach on the Hawaiian Islands. The time of year you visit and the weather conditions will dictate what activities you can enjoy on the West Molokai beaches, but generally you can find safe swimming and diving, snorkeling, kayaking, deep sea or reef fishing, wind surfing and camping. There is also mountain biking and hiking, and golf on West Molokai. The championship Kaluakoi Golf Course, designed by Ted Robinson, is seldom crowded, and so your tee time is whenever you show up! There are points of significant historical interest near West Molokai, such as the Mule Ride to Kalaupapa National Historical Park, the site of Father Damien's leprosy colony. Other unique guided hikes on West Molokai include visiting "The Birthplace of the Hula," and the "Poisonwood Kalaipahoa Gods." The storytelling that goes along with all of these hikes really brings West Molokai alive! There are no shopping malls or fast food restaurants here - shopping and eateries are small, friendly businesses. West Molokai is peaceful and quiet, and seems to operate at a slower pace than the rest of the world. If this is exactly what you're seeking, West Molokai might be the tropical paradise of your dreams!

West Molokai Weather & Climate

The island  of Molokai, like the rest of Hawaii, has temperatures that usually vary no more than six or seven degrees - year round. Unlike temperature, rainfall varies tremendously depending on time of year. There are basically two seasons on the island of Molokai. Summer, between May and October, which is a few degrees warmer (peaking in August,) and dry. Isolated thundershowers are possible, but it is also not uncommon to go for days with nothing but beautiful, clear blue skies. Winter is wetter and February and March are generally the coolest months (but only by a few degrees.) During summer, northeasterly trade winds are more persistent. In general, the weather on Molokai is very pleasant all year long.
