Honokowai
is located on the northwestern coast of the island of Maui between Kaanapali and Kahana along Highway 30 near Honokowai Point. The beaches here are some of Maui's best. The breathtaking coastline, along with jagged peaks, green velvet valleys and tropical rainforests, is the Maui seen on picture postcards. Honokowai is one of the smaller communities in this area, with convenience stores, and easy access to the shops and fine dining in Kaanapali. Honokowai has an easygoing lifestyle that is perfect for relaxing. Or, if you feel like being more active, bicycle down the coastline, ride a kayak out to sea, swim in the clear pool of a waterfall, or explore a jungle of exotic flowers. It's all just minutes away from Honokowai. While here, be sure to visit the Maui Dive Shop, which is an Activity Center and Maui's largest diving retailer. You'll find the island's largest inventory of snorkeling and scuba diving equipment for sale or rent, along with deluxe snorkel packages. Honokowai is one of several beautiful West Maui communities, and is just minutes from the old seaport of Lahaina, Whalers Village at Kaanapali, and the upscale town of Kahana. Honokowai offers excellent lodging at affordable prices for astute travelers. With its great location, near sandy beaches, and within minutes of the resort areas of Kapalua and Kaanapali, Honokowai is heaven for the budget-minded.

Honokowai Weather & Climate

The northwestern tip of Maui is one of the driest and most sunny spots on the island. This region receives only about 12 to 15 inches of rainfall per year, mostly in the winter months, as compared to Hana on the east side which receives 90 inches per year. The prevailing trade winds serve to keep temperatures very pleasant and comfortable, even during the warmest months. The winds are from the northeast at about 5-15 miles per hour. Humidity is moderate to high, but due to the natural ventilation of the winds, the weather is seldom oppressive. In winter, Kona winds come from the opposite direction and usually indicate that bad weather is on the way. However, severe storms are rare on Maui.
