Ehukai-Beach
is home of the famous Bonzai Pipeline, a very popular beach among local residents. It's located on Oahu's spectacular North Shore, best known for its' world class surfing and huge winter waves that sometimes reach heights of 25-30 feet. In the summertime, this same area is very calm and perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Ehukai Beach Park has three popular surfing areas; Ehukai Beach, Pipeline and Banzai. The Pipeline is about 100 yards to the left of Ehukai Beach, where the steepness of the winter waves causes the crest of the wave to fall forward, forming a "tube." Shooting the tube, or surfing inside it, is a highly prized challenge for experienced surfers. World championship surfing competitions are held here each year. Banzai Beach is located west of the Pipeline. The charming town of Haleiwa is a few miles from Ehukai Beach and is a popular hang out among the surfers. It's an artists' community and offers quaint shops and restaurants, tennis and golf. Haleiwa is also home to The North Shore Galleries, which features works of well-known artists such as James Coleman, Thomas Leung and master seascape artist, Walfrido.

Northeastern Oahu is part of the wet windward coast and has a subtropical climate. The prevailing northeasterly trade winds are a dominate factor in the climate of Oahu, and even the warmest months of the year are comfortable due to the blowing trade winds. The average air temperature ranges from 74 to 88 degrees with moderate humidity of around 53 percent during the day. The island has two mountain ranges that serve to separate the moist windward (east) side from the drier leeward (west) side. Showers occur almost daily on the windward side, most frequently during the evening hours. There are no distinguishable season changes on the island of Oahu, although it is usually a few degrees warmer in the summer months.
