Bellows-Beach
is located on the southeastern side of the island of Oahu. This five-mile stretch of pristine white sand beach is considered by many to be the most beautiful beach on the island. Bellows Beach slopes gently toward the ocean, and its shallow waters are good for beginning body boarders and surfboarders. Although it gets more crowded in the summertime, this unspoiled beach is much less well known, and thus, less crowded than Waikiki. Bellows Field Beach Park was formerly an active U.S. Airforce base, and the entrance to the park is still monitored by a military guardhouse. It's a popular spot for picnics and family gatherings, as well as swimming and camping (by permit only.) Bellows Beach, on the "windward" side of the island is also a favorite location for wind surfing and sailing. With breathtaking views of the Koolau Mountains in the background, Bellows Beach is perfect for simply relaxing under a palm tree and listening to the waves, feeling like you are on your own private island paradise. Yet you are only minutes from the famous snorkeling beach at Hanauma Bay, horseback riding, golf, shopping and restaurants, and most of the other island attractions!

Bellows Beach Weather & Climate

|
Southeastern Oahu has a tropical climate with gentle northeasterly tradewinds and warm temperatures year-round. Temperatures vary little, except at higher elevations. Unlike the temperature, Hawaii's rainfall varies tremendously according to location. The highest amount of rainfall is usually at moderate elevations on the windward (east) sides of the islands and is due to moisture-laden oceanic tradewinds. Leeward (western) locations are drier, because they are shielded from the damp winds by mountains. Rain and windstorms are more frequent during Hawaii's winter months, but they generally clear up within 24 hours. Humidity on Oahu is moderate, but the cooling winds keep things quite comfortable and pleasant. Severe storms such as hurricanes or tropical storms, make landfall in the Central Pacific, on average, every 8 to 10 years.
